Wells Golf Club Senior’s 4BBB Open was played on an ideal September day, warm and sunny with very little wind. The greens were not playing as quick as they looked and this foxed many players.
The scoring was high, particularly amongst the members, who were using their home advantage. Martin Barnes & Cliff Hopkins, who were early starters, held the clubhouse lead for most of the day only to be overtaken by the last pairing out. An exceptional score of 48 points by Simon Jackson & Rob Coates, Wells GC, which included 5 birdies, put them in winning position.
The first visitor’s prize went to Martin Rudderham (New Forest) & Ade Heath (Romsey) with 43 points on countback from Denis Garrett & Tim Pike (Hamptworth).
